Rudolf von Tobel, the devoted student in the service of his master Pablo Casals.
Helga has processed the diverse estate of Rudolf von Tobel, consisting of sheet music, diaries, letters and photos. This resulted in a richly illustrated book about the cellist, which gives exciting insight into Rudolf von Tobel's world of ideas, which was strongly influenced by the musician of the century Pablo "Pau" Casals (1876-1973).
Under the title "An homage to Rudolf von Tobel and Pablo Casals", the Rudolf von Tobel-Foundation organized a splendid event on November 17, 2021 at Casino Bern, which was much more than a great concert experience. In the first part, Helga talked about her work in processing the estate and the resulting book. In the second part of the event, the audience heard the two cellos by von Tobel and Casals and learned exciting background information about the valuable instruments (Goffriller and Sanctus Seraphin).
Marta Casals Istomin addressed from Washington D.C. a touching video message to the guests in Bern, after a musical performance of Anton Strashnov on the sonorous Sanctus Seraphin cello. Extremely well-versed, Andreas Müller-Crepon, editor of SRF 2 Kultur of Swiss Radio led the evening.
